Squat Mac

Squat Mac is a Psilocybe cubensis strain known for its chunky, compact stature and prominent, golden-brown caps. The name ‘Squat Mac’ is derived from its physical characteristics—it has a notably short but thick stem (often called “squat”) and densely domed cap, often compared to a Big Mac burger due to its layered appearance and roundness. In mature specimens, the caps flatten slightly while retaining their golden tones and sometimes displaying bluish bruising around the edges—a hallmark feature of psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

Squat Mac is considered a designer strain and typically does not occur in the wild. It has been selectively bred for both visual aesthetics and above-average psychedelic potency. The spores make a strong mycelial network and exhibit aggressive colonization tendencies during cultivation. Mac, in the strain name, may also refer in part to lineage similarities with the popular ‘MAC’ cannabis strain in terms of dense structural aesthetic, though there is no botanical relation.
